Macro patented MacroPack™ die is the most advanced and versatile blown film coextrusion die in the market. The MacroPack™, a stackable die of tapered mandrels, is capable of coextruding any combination of polyolefins or barrier resins including Nylon, EVOH or PVdC with LDPE, LLDPE, mLLDPE, EVA, Ionomers, EAA, etc.
The MacroPack™ die provides numerous benefits, which reinforce its position as the best solution for coextruding barrier film:
The tapered mandrels nest into each other with geometric perfection making the die leak-proof for hassle-free production.
Patented design that provides the lowest wetted surface area of any die in the market. Depending on the diameter, the MacroPack™ provides between 30% to 50% less wetted surface area, which results in very low residence time and pressure drop, reducing polymer degradation and guaranteeing high output.
The polymer flow is split only once for each layer resulting in reduced resin hang-up, fast purging and better gauge uniformity.
The number of spirals is not restricted as with other stackable die designs. Depending on the diameter, the MacroPack™ can be designed with 16 or more spirals per layer for enhanced gauge uniformity.
Compact and light compared to other stackable dies with the same number of layers. Depending on the diameter, the MacroPack™ will weigh between 30% to 50% less than other stackable dies providing easier handling as well as reduced heating and cooling times.
Reduced number of parts and bolts compared to other coextrusion dies. The MacroPack™ will have approximately 60% less bolts than other stackable dies providing ease of maintenance and reduced cleanup time.
Allows the installation of a simplified IBC system. The IBC air feed and air return in a MacroPack™ die flow through a single double pipe.
Each MacroPack™ die is computer designed for optimized processability using the rheological data of the polymers to be coextruded. Accuracy of the design and tight tolerances are assured by direct data interface between the design software and state-of-the-art CNC machines.
MacroPack™ dies are available from 2 to 9 layers for sizes between 14” (356 mm) to 50” (1250 mm). For smaller die sizes Macro provides its TaperPack™ design which offers the same benefits as the MacroPack™ on the smaller diameters.
