Macro’s Website Given a New Look

In November 2006, Macro’s website (www.macroeng.com) was redesigned to provide our customers with a greater resource to our products and services.  The new site boasts more and larger images of our equipment, accompanied by useful descriptions and downloads.  The website still contains all of the features that were previously available.  For example, the most recent, and archived MacroLetters (including this one) can still be downloaded and the majority of our press releases are also made available for convenient viewing.

Our goal is to continuously improve and expand www.macroeng.com to keep it up to date  with current and useful information.  If you have any comments about our website, please let us know so we can better serve you.

New High-Tech Lab Line Sold to Polinter/Indesca in Venezuela

A new Macro multi-purpose research and development coextrusion line will be installed at Polinter/Indesca in El Tablazo Petrochemical Complex, State of Zulia, Venezuela.  The new line will be capable of processing both blown film and cast film 5-layer coextruded structures containing polyolefins and value-added barrier and adhesive materials.

The blown film module of the line will feature Macro's latest developed automatic blown film die control technology.  Joining efforts with Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly EGS), the blown film die will be coupled with an automatic profile control system that scans the collapsed bubble using a Beta sensor for precise thickness readings and gauge control. The line will also feature Macro’s Supercom 9004 computer based supervisory and control system for  consistent film quality and simplified line operation.

The cast film module, also integrated into the Supercom 9004 system, will include a Cloeren automatic die, 5-layer variable geometry coextrusion feedblock and an AFS corona treater.  The cast film system will use the same gauge control system used with the blown film module, contributing to the uniqueness and superior performance of the line.

The new line will be used to test new materials and coextruded structures and to provide support to the expanding converting industry in Venezuela and neighbouring countries.  This showcase line from Macro will certainly contribute to the growth of the expanding coextrusion industry in Latin America.
